1 year agoThe Seattle Kraken have a captain — and he’s done the job before.
Mark Giordano, who spent 15 seasons with the Calgary Flames and eight wearing a second “C” on his chest, has been named the first-ever captain of the Seattle Kraken.
Seattle selected the 38-year-old defenceman from Calgary in July’s expansion draft. During his tenure as Flames captain, Giordano scored 359 points (102 goals, 257 assists) in 564 games.
Joining Giordano in wearing letters for the Kraken are Jordan Eberle, Yanni Gourde, Jaden Schwartz, and Adam Larsson, who the club announced will all serve as alternate captains in 2021–22.
Giordano will play his first game as captain of the Kraken on Oct. 12 when the Vegas Golden Knights host Seattle at T-Mobile Arena.
