1 year agoAs the Calgary Flames continue to deal with an influx of players entering COVID-19 protocol, their farm team is beginning to face a similar problem.
Wednesday’s Stockton Heat game against the San Diego Gulls has been cancelled due to COVID-19 protocols affecting Stockton, the club announced seven hours prior to puck-drop on Dec. 22.
At this point in time, it is unclear whether any Stockton Heat players have tested positive for COVID-19 or which players (if any) have entered protocol. Wednesday’s game was originally scheduled for 8:00 p.m. at Pechanga Arena in San Diego.
The Calgary Flames currently have 20 players in COVID-19 protocol. When they return, they will likely look to Stockton for reinforcements to help them ice a full lineup. It remains to be seen whether COVID-19 will impact their ability to do so.
The Heat currently rank second in the American Hockey League with an 18–2–3 record in 23 games this season.
