HGD 61: Heat kick off three-game series in Henderson (8:00 p.m. MT)

The Stockton Heat will play their first of three consecutive road games in Nevada on Wednesday when they take on the Henderson Silver Knights at 8:00 p.m. MT.

The Heat have already played five games against the Silver Knights this season, with four taking place in Stockton and the other at Orleans Arena in Paradise, NV.

This week, the Heat will play their first three games at the brand-new Dollar Loan Center in Henderson. The Silver Knights hosted their first game at their new barn on April 2, falling 5–2 to the Bakersfield Condors.

Brendan Brisson, the Vegas Golden Knights’ 2020 first-round draft pick, could make his professional debut against the Heat this week (potentially as soon as Wednesday). The 20-year-old centre signed an amateur try-out deal with the Silver Knights earlier this week after scoring 21 goals and 42 points in 38 games as a sophomore with the Michigan Wolverines this season.

The Heat most recently took on the Ontario Reign at Toyota Arena on April 10, falling 6–5 in a shootout after blowing three leads in regulation time. @Justin Kirkland led the way for Stockton with two goals on Sunday; @Connor Zary, @Nick DeSimone, and @Walker Duehr also scored for the Heat.

Stockton (42–12–6) remains atop the AHL standings with a .750 points percentage through 60 games this season; Henderson (29–28–4) recently clinched a playoff spot and currently ranks sixth in the Pacific Division.

Heating up

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Connor Zary is on fire.

The 20-year-old forward scored his 12th goal of the 2021–22 season (and his seventh in the last 10 games) to give the Heat a short-lived 4–3 lead late in the third period on Saturday.

After a slow start to the season as he gradually recovered from a foot injury, Zary is beginning to emerge as one of Stockton’s most valuable weapons on the power play.
