Tkachuk records 300th NHL point with between-the-legs assist on Gaudreau goal in San Jose

1 year agoCalgary Flames winger @Matthew Tkachuk recorded his 300th National Hockey League point during the first period of his team’s game against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.
In typical Tkachuk fashion, his milestone point came off a between-the-legs play. The sequence began when he and @Elias Lindholm barreled into the Sharks zone on the forecheck, with the latter managing to dislodge the puck in Tkachuk’s direction.
Tkachuk then slid the puck backward through his own legs toward a wide-open @Johnny Gaudreau in the slot. With all due respect to Sharks goaltender @Adin Hill, he was never going to stop Gaudreau with this much time and space.
Here’s the video of Gaudreau’s 10th goal of the season, as posted to Twitter by Hailey Salvian of The Athletic:
With the primary assist, Tkachuk moved out of his tie with Willi Plett for 23rd on the all-time Flames franchise points leaderboard.
The Flames currently lead the Sharks by a 2–1 score after 20 minutes of play. @Dillon Dube has the other goal for Calgary; @Tomas Hertl responded on the power play for the Sharks after Dube’s opening marker.
