Calgary Flames forward @Matthew Tkachuk clinched his team’s 4–3 shootout win over the Anaheim Ducks with an unbelievable one-handed move past opposing goaltender @John Gibson.
Through one round of the shootout, the Flames led 1–0 off a goal by @Johnny Gaudreau. Ducks defenceman @Kevin Shattenkirk failed to convert in the second round, setting the stage for Tkachuk to potentially win the game.
Tkachuk swung to the right side before cutting to the left as he approached Gibson. As he neared the crease, Tkachuk took one hand off his stick and dragged the puck over to the right as Gibson slid the other way.
The result: A shootout goal closely resembling Peter Forsberg’s iconic stamp-worthy tally in the 1994 Olympics (or, if you prefer, @David Schlemko’s shootout winner from his Flames debut back in 2015).
Here’s the video of Tkachuk’s shootout goal, as posted to Twitter by the verified Calgary Flames account:
@Blake Coleman, @Elias Lindholm, and @Sean Monahan scored in regulation time for Calgary, which improved to 15–4–5 with the win. Dan Vladar made 31 saves for his fifth win in six appearances with the Flames.
The Flames will return to action on Dec. 5 when they take on the Vegas Golden Knights at 8:00 p.m. MT.
