WATCH: Walker Duehr scores his first NHL goal with the Calgary Flames

Calgary Flames forward call-up Walker Duehr scored the first goal of his National Hockey League career in the second period of Thursday’s game against the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center.

Duehr, 25, took a pass from Nazem Kadri on a two-on-one rush and fired a quick wrister past the blocker of Blues goaltender Thomas Greiss to put the Flames up 1–0 at the 15:24 mark of the middle frame.

Trevor Lewis picked up the secondary assist on Duehr’s first NHL goal. The Flames remain up 1–0 over the Blues in the second intermission.

The Flames originally signed Duehr as an unrestricted free agent from Minnesota State University (Mankato) back in April 2021. He made his NHL debut with the Flames in the 2021–22 season and has now played two games with the team in 2022–23.

Duehr recorded 11 goals and 23 points in 59 games with the Stockton Heat in 2021–22 and added five goals and six points in 13 playoff games as the team reached the 2022 AHL Western Conference Final. This year, Duehr has 10 goals and 16 points in 31 games with the Calgary Wranglers.

After becoming the first player born in South Dakota to skate in an NHL game last year, Duehr is now the first player born in the state to score in the league — and he did so with his family in attendance in St. Louis.
