We’re into the dog days of the junior and college seasons, friends. In college, seasons are starting to creep towards their end and the conference playoff pictures are becoming clearer. In junior, the seasons look to be sprawling onward a bit given all the COVID rescheduling that happened earlier this season.
Let’s check in on the Calgary Flames’ youngsters this week.

This and that

  • G Tyler Parsons remains on the Flames’ season-opening injury reserve.
  • He’s not technically a prospect anymore, but D Juuso Valimaki has seven points in 14 AHL games for Stockton.
  • F Adam Ruzicka has gotten a full-time residence in Calgary, so it seems likely that he won’t be returning to Stockton anytime soon.

Ciona isn’t the driver of Seattle’s offense, but he’s a big body who’s generally staying out of the penalty box and picking up goals and assists fairly consistently. He did so again this week, albeit in a pair of quite one-sided Thunderbirds wins.

On one hand, Feuk had two multi-point games and five points this past week so maybe fans should get excited. On the other hand, he did so in Sweden’s far-flung third division, so maybe they shouldn’t be.

On one hand, Kirkland is 25 and isn’t really a prospect age-wise anymore. But he’s on a really nice run of offensive weeks recently, albeit somewhat skewed towards power play production. For a guy that wasn’t scoring a ton previously, power play production is better than no production.
