The Calgary Flames headed down to Edmonton for Game 3 of their second round playoff series with the Oilers on Sunday night. It went poorly, with the Flames getting out-shot handily in the first period, giving up four goals in the second period, and generally chasing for the entire game. The Flames ended up losing 4-1, with the Oilers taking a 2-1 lead in the series.

#Flames head coach Darryl Sutter shares his thoughts on Game 3.
On how the game unfolded: āI think we had a lot of the younger guys that havenāt been in this situation before were a little bit intimidated by the atmosphere.ā
On Edmontonās early push: āYou knew what was coming. They havenāt played at home in this round yet and they were going to come out hard and really play with a lot of purpose in their game, and a lot of speed, and they did. And I thought Marky in the first period probably made 3, 4 saves that wouldāve kept it a no-score. But I just think, give Edmonton credit, the way they played in neutral, it fed 97ās game for sure.ā
On the Milan Lucic hit on Mike Smith: āThey called it charging, correct? Can you imagine if Looch did charge? What wouldāve happened there? He actually tried to slow it down a little, i think. It is what it is. Itās the score and who it was. Thatās what they call.ā
On the decision to pull Jacob Markstrom from the game: āJust after two periods. I couldāve done it with seven minutes left in the second but I didnāt think that was right, since it wouldnāt give Vladdy time to warm up between periods.ā
On what he says to Markstrom in that situation: āYeah, āMarky, Vladdyās going in.'ā

On hanging Jacob Markstrom out to dry: āAbsolutely. I mean, odd-man rushes andā¦ What were they, four odd-man rushes? I thought he was awesome tonight, Marky. He made so many great saves and kept us in it in the first and we just didnāt play that great in front of him in the second.ā
On what they need to do to have success: āTheyāve got one player that plays half the game and is playing some great hockey right now, and we gotta find a way to stop that. When we get into their zone, we have to hold pucks and nothing blind, and get shots to the goalie. Thatās where they can have some trouble with some rebounds and lose coverage with that. Just have to have consistent O-zone shifts and not throw anything blind that can feed their transition.ā
