Scotia Place: a street-level look at construction progress from Stampede Week 2026

We just completed the 2026 edition of the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, folks. And everyone who wandered down to the Stampede grounds over the 10 days of Stampede – and Sneak-A-Peek, which doesn’t count – got a chance to take a look-see at the construction progress for the future home of the Calgary Flames, Scotia Place.
As we’ve become accustomed to doing, we headed down to the grounds – for big lemonades, foot-long corn dogs and Alanis Morissette – and snapped a few shots to update construction progress.
Southwest corner
This week:

Two weeks ago:

Since our last check-in, we’re seeing the exterior panels continue to work their way around the building. We’re also seeing work being done to start building out the exterior facade around the main entrance.
Oh, and if you look further down the right side of this image – a little ways into the main entrance plaza inside – you might notice something fun: escalators, part of a few that are going to be installed in the building. (From the building plans, there’s supposed to be four escalators total, two on the south side and two on the north side, connecting the main and upper concourses.)
Here’s how this view will look when everything’s said and done:

Just as we’ve seen on the southwest corner, the northwest corner is seeing the external panelling rapidly overtake the green building envelope panelling.
As with the southwest view, here’s how things will look when it’s all done:

Northeast corner
This week:

Two weeks ago:

The north side of the bowl structure is almost entirely enclosed by the building envelope panels, and some of the steel for the exterior facade structure is being added, too.
Meanwhile, here’s a quick view of the east side of the building:

Compared to two weeks ago: a little bit of progress on the roof support structure (on the top right) and a bit of progress enclosing the main arena structure, too. As a passionate amateur construction bystander, I think they need to enclose the main structure before they can build the parkade in front of it and fill out this side’s build. When all is said and done, this view should be mostly parkade.
Southeast corner
This week:

Two weeks ago:

Not a lot has changed on the southeast corner, as they’re working on a bunch of other things. As noted previously, the underground community rink lacks a roof – and that roof will be the exterior entrance plaza to the community rink structure – and right now there’s a crane hanging out inside where the community rink will be. All in due time, friends.
Here’s how things will look when they’re done, with the east side parkade structure on the right and the eventual exterior community rink entrance plaza at the bottom of the image.

Now that Stampede is over, we’ll see how quickly the construction crews can complete the remaining pieces of the puzzle. It’s getting there, folks!
