With training camp just a bit ahead in the distance and roster news immenintly arriving, we have more news trickling in about just who’s coming. Today, reports have come out that the Flames will bring in 2009 first rounder Dylan Olsen, a left-handed defenceman, on a PTO.
Former Hawks 1st round pick, Dylan Olsen will attend the Calgary Flames camp on a PTO. Local lad. Left shot D.

Olsen is almost certainly a warm body for camp, as he hasn’t played pro hockey since 2015-16 but lives in the Calgary area. Last year, he played six games for the Nanton Palominos of the Ranchland Hockey League, Senior AA hockey.
As a pro, he could never crack the NHL on a regular basis and was mostly an AHLer for the six years he played professionally. In the NHL, he played 124 games and scored 22 points. In the AHL, he nearly doubled those totals, playing in 215 games and 51 points.
If he gets a job out of camp, he’ll probably be a veteran body in the bottom four for the Stockton Heat. It’s hard to see what other role he could play with the team other than that.
