With training camp just a bit ahead in the distance and roster news immenintly arriving, we have more news trickling in about just who’s coming. Today, reports have come out that the Flames will bring in 2009 first rounder Dylan Olsen, a left-handed defenceman, on a PTO.
Former Hawks 1st round pick, Dylan Olsen will attend the Calgary Flames camp on a PTO. Local lad. Left shot D.

Olsen is almost certainly a warm body for camp, as he hasn’t played pro hockey since 2015-16 but lives in the Calgary area. Last year, he played six games for the Nanton Palominos of the Ranchland Hockey League, Senior AA hockey.
As a pro, he could never crack the NHL on a regular basis and was mostly an AHLer for the six years he played professionally. In the NHL, he played 124 games and scored 22 points. In the AHL, he nearly doubled those totals, playing in 215 games and 51 points.
If he gets a job out of camp, he’ll probably be a veteran body in the bottom four for the Stockton Heat. It’s hard to see what other role he could play with the team other than that.
Nanton Palomino’s of the Ranchland Hockey League… think about THAT for a second.
CapFriendly actually has his games with the Palomino’s. 5 points in 6 games last season. Funny.
Hopefully he had a good year away from hockey and comes back strong, but more likely that he’s back in Nanton next season, then I predict a trade to the Blackie Bobcats.
PPG player. Sounds promising…lol

Last Game: Away at Fort Macleod Mustangs (12-1 win)
It is actually a very good website, and the Mustangs are clearly the class of the entire 4 team league. The best thing about the site is that they had Dylan Olsen listed as a rookie.
Like that’s going to fix the defence?? The Oilers were 8th in the NHL in goals against last season and we were worse (13th). Flames need to get better players this season or we’ll get swept by the Oilers in regular season and Ducks in playoffs again, if we even make playoffs with this team.
Oiler trolls have nothing better to do. 10 months until the draft lottery.
Reason they were 8th is because Talbot stood on his head, had they gotten the same goalie performance as Flames they would have been 23rd.
“That’s My Point” doesn’t have a clue about teams filling out their roster with players with pro experience so they could meet the minimum requirements for every pre-season game. 🙂 🙂
Calgary has a Lack in goal-tending so they signed Smith? You know this is a step backwards from last season. BRUTAL!
Step away from the keyboard bud.
Lot’s of filler coming to camp guys hoping to catch on either in the AHL or ECHL. Keep them away from the stars. Also quickly move them out if they can’t play.
Scraping the beer leagues.
