Flames recall Anthony Peluso

After sending down Curtis Lazar Friday, the Flames are back up to 23 bodies after recalling winger Anthony Peluso.
Peluso has played 144 NHL games to date, scoring 14 points and racking up 213 penalty minutes. The Flames signed him in August to a one-year, two-way deal. He’s an extra body who can fight when needed but doesn’t provide much more.
Given that Lazar couldn’t find a spot on the Flames, it’s hard to see how Peluso could find game action, but he’s probably not here to play. Lazar is still 23 and could perhaps find redemption in the AHL, so keeping him in the press box doesn’t really help anyone. Playing Peluso in the AHL takes away time from actual prospects, so it’s much better to stick him in the press box.
Peluso likely won’t play Saturday, as he was just recalled. We’ll wait until morning skate, but it’s hard to imagine the Flames taking one of Michael Frolik, James Neal, or Austin Czarnik out of the lineup to play Peluso (especially when Dalton Prout is already penciled in).
