Friends, Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews won the Hart Memorial Trophy at the NHL Awards on Tuesday night. But Calgary Flames sniper Johnny Gaudreau placed well, finishing fourth in the balloting by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.
It’s the second time in Gaudreau’s career that he’s finished fourth in Hart voting. Gaudreau appeared on 168 of the 195 ballots submitted. He led the balloting in fourth and fifth-place votes. Flames forward Matthew Tkachuk received a single fifth-place vote and was tied for 14th in overall voting.
Gaudreau finished tied for second in the NHL in points with 115 points during the regular season – tying with Florida’s Jonathan Huberdeau – behind only Edmonton’s Connor McDavid.
