With just over a week remaining until the 2026 NHL trade deadline, a trio of Calgary Flames currently sit atop Daily Faceoff‘s newest list of trade targets.
Blake Coleman, Nazem Kadri, and Ryan Lomberg are all considered Tier 1 targets, or “obvious trade candidates,” by DFO managing editor and senior editor Matt Larkin, who published the site’s updated trade board on Thursday.
Using a combination of personal sources, input from other Nation Network insiders, and external chatter, Larkin included the three Flames veterans alongside the likes of Robert Thomas, Vincent Trocheck, Ryan O’Reilly, and Evander Kane — all of whom could be on the move ahead of the March 6 trade deadline.
On top of those three Flames targets, Larkin also included defencemen MacKenzie Weegar and Zach Whitecloud in Tier 2, or “names to keep an eye on” — players who could move, but maybe not right away.
The Flames have already sold one player of significant value this season: Rasmus Andersson, who returned Whitecloud, Abram Wiebe, and two draft picks from the Vegas Golden Knights in late January.
Even after their 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Thursday, the Flames rank near the bottom of the NHL standings with a 24-27-6 record and 54 points through 57 games this season. They have just four games left to play prior to the trade deadline.
The Flames did not make any significant moves at the 2025 trade deadline, with their lone major trade of the 2024-25 season being to acquire Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost from the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for Jakob Pelletier, Andrei Kuzmenko, and a second-round pick. During the 2023-24 season, the Flames traded Nikita Zadorov, Elias Lindholm, Chris Tanev, and Noah Hanifin in exchange for various draft picks, players, and prospects.
