Another Friday night slate with three games, and we’ve got one play in each of them — let’s get to it.
Tonight’s expected goaltender match-ups for our highlighted games:
Buffalo Sabres’ Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen (15-14-2) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets’ Daniil Tarasov (4-6-2).
Winnipeg Jets’ Connor Hellebuyck (26-11-3) vs. Chicago Blackhawks’ Petr Mrazek (13-22-2).
Minnesota Wilds Filip Gustavsson (15-13-3) vs. Edmonton Oilers’ Calvin Pickard (7-2-0).

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen over 26.5 saves (-125)

Your $10.00 bet would return $18.00.
Excuse me? Putting confidence in the Blue Jackets to shoot? Yes, scary. But there are some impressive data points to back this up.
On the season, the Sabres allow 31.7 shots against on the road — this number jumps to 34.1 shots over their last seven road games.
The Blue Jackets are averaging just 29.7 shots at home this season — this number jumps to 34.2 shots over their last five home games.
Both teams are averaging more than their season average in their respective location over their last twenty days.
Luukkonen has cleared this line in three of his last four games, averaging 25.8 saves per game. This number is heavily skewed due to just an 11-save game to the Anaheim Ducks. Looking into his road splits, Luukkonen has cleared in five of his last six games, averaging 30.5 saves per game.

Gabe Vilardi over 2.5 shots on goal (-105)

Your $10.00 bet would return $19.52.
Gabe Vilardi has covered this line in three straight games, averaging 4.0 shots on 5.7 shot attempts. On the road this season, Vilardi has cleared at a 60% clip, averaging 2.5 shots on 3.9 shot attempts.
Against the Blackhawks, Vilardi has cleared in two of three games this season, averaging 2.7 shots on 3.3 shot attempts per game. Chicago is allowing the most shots on goal to wingers, averaging 14.8 per game over their last 10 games.
Vilardi is averaging 4.0 shot attempts on the season — when he sees this volume, Vilardi clears at an 84% clip, averaging 3.6 shots. So let’s hope to see at least four shot attempts from Vilardi tonight.

Edmonton Oilers & Minnesota Wild over 6.5 & Connor McDavid point (-110)

Your $10 bet would return $19.09.
Since the All-Star break, both teams have been scoring machines. The Oilers have gone over this line in six of eight games and five straight while the Wild have eclipsed this total in three of their last five and two straight. Head to head, these teams have gone over in four of their last five meetings.
There isn’t much explanation to do on just one point for Connor McDavid. He has points in nine of his last ten games, totalling 25 points. McDavid is on a four-game points streak, totalling seven points. It’s hard to imagine this over hitting without a McDavid point, so taking the two together gives up a more playable line than the -150 for just the over.

Last Game Recap

Mikael Backlund Over 2.5 Shots on Goal- WON – (+$7.50)
Pavel Zacha Point – LOSS – (-$10.00)
Backlund was absolutely no sweat as he cleared this line in the first period. Zacha can’t find a point on the two Bruins goals and ends his points streak against the Flames.
All-Time Record: 35-45 (-$104.43)
