The Calgary Flames continue their road trip with a morning game with the Philadelphia Flyers. The most recent meeting between the teams happened on New Year’s Eve, ending in a 4-3 Flames victory.
These two teams enter today’s game playing very different hockey recently. Calgary has won three straight, while Philadelphia has lost four in a row. Will the streaks continue?
Calgary Flames & Philadelphia Flyers Over 5.5 Goals (-140)
The previous three head-to-head matchups between these teams have gone over this total in all three games. Both teams have scored 6+ goals in five of their last ten games.
Today’s matinee game marks the first of the season for the Flames. Afternoon games treated Calgary well last season, finishing with a 4-2-1 record. But more importantly, going over the 5.5 total in six of seven games. Philadelphia went over in six of their nine matinee games last season.
With both team’s backup goalies starting in their most recent games, it’s safe to assume we should see Jacob Markstrom faceoff against Carter Hart. Over each goalie’s last four starts, Markstrom has allowed 10 goals, while Hart has allowed 15 goals.
Yegor Sharangovich Point (-118)
Your $10 bet would return $18.50.
We’re rooting for goals, and Yegor Sharangovich has been finding the scoresheet non-stop since joining Elias Lindholm on the top line.
Over his last 13 games, he has points in 11 of them, totalling 14 points. The Flames forward has a point in nine of his last ten road games, totalling 14 points. Philadelphia allows 3.5 goals on their current four-game losing streak.
Cam Atkinson Over 2.5 Shots On Goal (+115)
Your $10 bet would return $21.50.
After a surprising scratch last game against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Cam Atkinson is projected to return to the lineup tonight against the Flames.
Before spending the night up in the press box, the Flyer winger cleared this line in three of his last four games, averaging 4.0 shots on 5.8 shot attempts per game. Including seven shots on ten attempts in a game against Calgary one week ago.
Atkinson performs better on home ice, clearing 75% of his games in the Wells Fargo Center, averaging 3.3 shots on 4.9 shot attempts per game. Calgary allows the second most shots on goal to right-wingers, averaging 7.9 shots against to the position over their last ten games.
Calgary Flames & Nashville Predators u6.5 – LOSS
Elias Lindholm Over 2.5 Shots On Goal – LOSS
Juuse Saros Over 26.5 Saves – LOSS
This was a bummer. Lindholm had two shots heading into the third and got his late attempt blocked to lose by one. If Saros had stayed in the game for the third period, he would have covered his saves line.
All-Time Record: 4-5 (-$16.40)
