The Calgary Flames hope to rebound from their third blowout loss in six games as they continue a stretch of three straight games against the surging Ottawa Senators on Saturday as -160 road favorites on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
The Flames ran out of gas while playing their third road game in four nights on Thursday. Calgary proved to be no match for Ottawa in a lopsided 6-1 loss that also marked its sixth defeat in eight outings going into Saturday afternoon’s contest at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Flames vs Senators | OddsShark Matchup Report
After turning in a pair of spectacular performances in Toronto in place of injured starter Jacob Markstrom, netminder David Rittich put up little resistance in Thursday’s series opener. Rittich allowed just two goals on 73 total shots while almost singlehandedly earning the Flames three points in two dates with the Maple Leafs. However, he wilted against the Senators, allowing four goals on 20 shots before getting pulled in favor of untested rookie Artyom Zagidulin.

With Markstrom now on the IR and ineligible to return until next week, Rittich’s heavy workload is expected to continue. And while he has been steady, his efforts have been squandered by a feeble Calgary offense. Rittich has surrendered just 10 total goals over his past six games, but saw Flames shooters score just eight goals in those contests.
Now looking to avoid losing three in a row for the third time this season, the Flames must also put an end to recent lackluster performances in Ottawa. In addition to marking their third defeat by four or more goals in an eight-day span, Thursday’s loss extended the Flames’ lack of offense when playing the Senators on the road. Calgary has managed to pick up the win in three of five away dates with the Senators, but has mustered just two goals per game during that stretch.

Conversely, the Senators aim to build on their biggest home victory in almost five years when they hit the ice on Saturday afternoon as +140 underdogs at betting sites. Winners in just two of their first 15 outings of the season, the Senators have shown renewed vigor over the past two weeks, claiming victory in five of seven outings.
Now on the verge of winning four in a row for the first time since March 2017, Ottawa has scored an impressive 4.67 goals per game during its current win streak. But with opponents tallying just 2.50 goals per game, the UNDER has held the edge in totals betting, going 5-1 over the Senators’ past six home dates.
