How are the recently acquired Flames performing so far?

The Calgary Flames have made some changes to their roster throughout the regular season.
Most prominently, the Flames made four pretty significant trades between mid January and March’s trade deadline that sent out some established players and brought in four new faces to the big club’s lineup.
As we head into the final few weeks of the 2025-26 season, let’s take a quick look at how the NHL newcomers have performed thus far.
Zach Whitecloud (Calgary Flames)
The Flames acquired Zach Whitecloud on Jan. 18 as part of the Rasmus Andersson trade with Vegas. He made his Flames debut the following day, on Jan. 19. Whitecloud has five points through 19 games since joining the Flames. (He also missed three games with an injury suffered on Mar. 7 against Carolina.)
He’s pretty quickly become a really important player for the Flames. He’s been playing on the top two pairings, usually partnered with either Kevin Bahl or Yan Kuznetsov. He’s also been a regular penalty killer. Since the trade deadline, he’s worn an A as alternate captain in the road games he’s been available for.
Olli Maatta (Calgary Flames)
The Flames acquired Olli Maatta on Mar. 4 as part of the MacKenzie Weegar trade with Utah. He made his Flames debut on Mar. 7. Maatta has five points through nine games since joining the Flames.
While not leaned on as heavily defensive as Whitecloud, Maatta’s played some big minutes for the Flames since arriving. Since he can play the left or right side, he’s been used with a lot of different partners: Hunter Brzustewicz, Kevin Bahl and Brayden Pachal. Maatta’s versatility has been quite useful so far.
Ryan Strome (Calgary Flames)
The Flames acquired Ryan Strome on Mar. 6 from Anaheim. He made his Flames debut the following day, on Mar. 7. Strome has six points through nine games since joining the Flames. (He had nine through 33 games with the Ducks.)
Strome has been a really steady third line centre for the Flames so far. He’s played with a mix of wingers: primarily Yegor Sharangovich, Connor Zary and Victor Olofsson. He’s also factored in on the power play.
Victor Olofsson (Calgary Flames)
The Flames acquired Victor Olofsson on Mar. 6 as part of the Nazem Kadri trade with Colorado. He made his Flames debut on Mar. 9. Olofsson has three points through eight games since joining the Flames.
Olofsson has been a bottom six winger for the Flames so far, playing with a mixture of forwards: usually some combination of Ryan Strome, Yegor Sharangovich, Adam Klapka and Martin Pospisil. He’s also gotten some power play time.
Which of these four new Flames has been most impressive since joining the club? Let us know in the comments!
