Pals, there has been a ton of construction activity around Scotia Place since the summer began. If you’ve followed along with our updates over the last while, you’ve probably seen things transform from a somewhat incomplete building skeleton to, well, a structure that looks pretty close in same areas to what it’ll end up being on opening night for the 2027-28 season.

It’s been about a month since our last snapshot of progress, so let’s dive in!

We’ll start here: no substantial changes on this side. There’s some work being done on the south side – we’ll get a better look at that elsewhere – but as we’ve noted before, this corner was the first area where work got going and so it makes sense that it’s the furthest along.

There’s a bit of progress on this view, primarily some work moving along the angular steel facades, but the real progress is on the other sides.

On the day we were roaming around, there were a ton of concrete mixer truckers on site – we counted eight. That’s a reflection of just how much work is being done on this side of things. Hey look, the building envelope has almost entirely been installed, which has been followed by things progressing on the parkade side – we’ll get to that in a bit.

This is the view that showcases the most progress, so let’s run through it. The green building envelope panelling has worked its way almost entirely around the building, with just a couple smaller gaps in the overall coverage – we suspect the sides of the main bowl structure will be fully enclosed fairly soon. In roofing progress, the big white crane is gone and it appears that much of the roof structure has been installed. (We’ll get to that in a moment.)

If we zoom in from Scotsman’s Hill: hey look, a bunch of the exterior glass and glazing has been installed on the south side of the main entrance to the building! And you can also notice from this zoomed-in view that a lot of the exterior envelope and other panelling is being installed on the angular framing around the entrance.

Now, onto a couple questions that we’ve been tracking over the last little while…

Our simple answer is: enough of the roof is done that it’s tough to approximate how much of the roofing is left to finish without a drone, which we do not have (and won’t be getting). Based on the glimpses we have from the current gaps in the exterior envelope panelling, our current viewpoint is the roof is mostly done, albeit with a bit of a gap in the middle that they’re obviously going to fill in before things get chilly later in the fall.

We can see a bit of daylight from the east side of the building, so it’s not completely covered yet. But it’s getting close.

A lot of the concrete structure is being poured. Based on the number of mixer trucks we saw around the site, that should keep progressing – potentially quite quickly – over the next little while.
