FlamesNation Prospect Update: The quest to 100
Scoring in the triple digits as a prospect is usually a very positive sign. The Flames have two such prospects who could reach that mark. Sounds pretty good.
In case you missed it
- Here’s the last update.
- Andrew Mangiapane has gone back to the AHL, likely for a while given that they recalled Marek Hrivik.
- Here’s how Stockton did without him.
Rasmus Andersson – D, Stockton Heat, AHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 38 | 4 | 22 | 26 | 16 | 13 | 9 | 26.37 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 0 | -0.39 |
Just an assist for Andersson this week.
Austin Carroll – RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 21 | 3 | 1 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 7.34 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 3.28 |
Austin Carroll’s been in the doghouse all year, but his recent good performances should allow him to keep his place in the lineup (once he returns from injury, hopefully). A goal and an assist this week, with the goal being pretty slick:
Dillon Dube – C/LW, Kelowna Rockets, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 34 | 22 | 28 | 50 | 26 | 37 | 18 | 34.97 |
Change from last week | 3 | 1 | 3 | 4 | 2 | 4 | 2 | -0.38 |
If you prorate Dube’s production over the course of a full WHL season (72 games), he would finish with 105 points. That would make him one of three Flames WHL prospects to (theoretically) hit that goal.
Zach Fischer – RW, Spokane Chiefs, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 43 | 22 | 14 | 36 | 25 | 25 | 20 | 19.91 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -0.47 |
One game, no points for Fischer.
Spencer Foo – RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 41 | 12 | 12 | 24 | 12 | 21 | 10 | 22.56 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.16 |
No points for Foo this week, but still ripped off 11 shots in two games. He’s the team leader in that regard, having passed 100 last game. The next closest forward, Hunter Shinkaruk, is 12 behind. He’s on pace to surpass last year’s Stockton Heat shot leader, Mark Jankowski, by 12 shots. That’s pretty good.
Adam Fox – D, Harvard Crimson, ECAC
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 19 | 0 | 12 | 12 | 5 | 5 | 1 | 11.91 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.4 |
Fox didn’t hit the scoresheet again this week, and wasn’t even on the ice for a single goal (for or against), but did rip off six shots.
Glenn Gawdin – C/RW, Swift Current Broncos, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 53 | 44 | 53 | 97 | 51 | 72 | 38 | 43.52 |
Change from last week | 3 | 4 | 3 | 7 | 4 | 5 | 4 | 0.72 |
With a hat trick this week, Gawdin is just three points away from 100. He’s now just a single point out of the WHL scoring lead, behind former Flames rookie camp invitee Brayden Burke. The Flames may just love WHLers with alliterative names.
Josh Healey – D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 31 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1.24 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -0.09 |
Played two games.
Jaromir Jagr – RW, Rytiri Kladno, Czech.1
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 1 | 0 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 1 | 69.37 |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | – |
Still technically a Flame! Three assists this week, might be an NHLer sometime soon.
D’Artagnan Joly – RW, Baie-Comeau Drakkar, QMJHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 40 | 16 | 31 | 47 | 24 | 38 | 20 | 24.71 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0.41 |
Joly barely played one period when (according to google-translated articles and tweets) a crosscheck sent him to the hospital. The injury, undisclosed, is not as bad as feared and the Drakkar are expecting him back on the ice soon-ish. Also check out this interesting article on Joly, but run it through a translator first.
Pavel Karnaukhov – LW/C, CSKA Moscow, KHL/Zvezda, VHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
KHL current | 11 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 11.03 |
Change from last week | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
VHL current | 35 | 12 | 18 | 30 | 18 | 24 | 14 | 26.71 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.62 |
Karnaukhov’s slump enters week four, as he only has one point in his last seven VHL games.
Morgan Klimchuk – LW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 42 | 13 | 14 | 27 | 17 | 21 | 14 | 24.78 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 0.69 |
Klimchuk had a rough few weeks, but is back in business with two points this week.
Oliver Kylington – D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 37 | 2 | 20 | 22 | 14 | 15 | 11 | 22.92 |
Change from last week | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Kylington did not play this week, as he was in Sweden on personal leave. He left during the AHL all-star weekend, but has returned and did practice yesterday.
Linus Lindstrom – C/LW, Skelleftea AIK, SHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 32 | 3 | 1 | 4 | 3 | 3 | 2 | 5.95 |
Change from last week | 3 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1.03 |
Lindstrom potted a powerplay goal this week, his first point in about two months.
Ryan Lomberg – LW, Stockton Heat – X
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 37 | 5 | 9 | 14 | 12 | 8 | 6 | 14.57 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -0.41 |
Still in the NHL. Probably in the Freddie Hamilton Memorial Role.
Andrew Mangiapane – LW/C, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 31 | 16 | 19 | 35 | 20 | 26 | 16 | 43.51 |
Change from last week | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Now back in the AHL. An honest review of his NHL time was that he’s still not just quite ready yet. It’s probably for the best given that he wasn’t going to get much more than 10 minutes a night. Some might be disappointed, but it’s really the best for all involved.
Mitchell Mattson – C/LW, Sioux Falls Stampede, USHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 38 | 8 | 10 | 18 | 15 | 16 | 13 | 10.88 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -0.6 |
No points for Mattson this week.
Adam Ollas Mattsson – D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 14 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |

Injured.
Matthew Phillips – C/RW, Victoria Royals, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 54 | 38 | 47 | 85 | 34 | 63 | 27 | 37.43 |
Change from last week | 3 | 3 | 2 | 5 | 2 | 4 | 2 | 0.13 |
Phillips had a repeat performance, potting three goals and two assists in three games just as he did last week. He also scored a shorthanded goal, just like he did the week before:
Also technically from over a week ago, but the clip only came up after the prospect update was published. Here’s some sweet hand-eye coordination from Phillips:
Emile Poirier – LW/RW, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 41 | 4 | 13 | 17 | 10 | 15 | 9 | 15.98 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 0.18 |
Poirier broke a long goal scoring drought, scoring his first goal since December.
Brett Pollock – LW/C, Stockton Heat, AHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 20 | 4 | 2 | 6 | 3 | 4 | 1 | 11.56 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.29 |
After his four-goal outburst, Pollock recorded zero points over the weekend.
Daniel Pribyl – RW/C, Stockton Heat

Current | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Still injured.
Rushan Rafikov – D, Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, KHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe

Ditto.
Adam Ruzicka – C/LW, Sarnia Sting, OHL

Change from last week | 3 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 1 | -0.88 |
Just a goal and an assist for Ruzicka this week. Here are both of them:
Hunter Shinkaruk – F, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 40 | 12 | 8 | 20 | 13 | 16 | 12 | 19.27 |

Out, injured.
Filip Sveningsson – LW, HV71, Superelit/SHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
SHL current | 11 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Change from last week | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Superelit current | 28 | 13 | 21 | 34 | 20 | 26 | 16 | 19.91 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 4 | 5 | 3 | 4 | 3 | 1.62 |
An impressive five points for Sveningsson in HV71’s two games this week.
Eetu Tuulola – RW, HPK, SM-Liiga
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 40 | 13 | 8 | 21 | 7 | 15 | 6 | 18.51 |
Change from last week | 3 | 2 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 2 | 1 | 0.4 |
Eetu added two more goals this week. He’s top five in scoring and PPG for U20 SM-Liiga players, which is pretty good.
Juuso Valimaki – D, Tri-City Americans, WHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 22 | 5 | 17 | 22 | 11 | 14 | 6 | 23.78 |
Change from last week | 3 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 0 | 0 | -1.25 |
Should return this week from injury.
Tyler Wotherspoon – D, Stockton Heat
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Current | 42 | 4 | 22 | 26 | 13 | 14 | 9 | 23.86 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.19 |
A rare point-less week from Wotherspoon.
Jon Gillies – G, Stockton Heat
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
Current | 29 | 1658.85 | 0.915 | 869 |
Change from last week | 1 | 21.18 | -0.002 | 11 |
Gillies’ struggles continue, as he was yanked from his one game this week after allowing three goals on 11 shots. I’m chalking this up to the Heat being depleted in addition to him being the only goalie in Stockton for a good long month.
Mason McDonald – G, Kansas City Mavericks/Stockton Heat
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
Current | 22 | 1284 | 0.892 | 581 |
Change from last week | 1 | 65 | 0 | 38 |
Back in Kansas with the goalie dust hopefully settling. He allowed four goals on 38 shots, good for a .895 SV%.
Tyler Parsons – G, Stockton Heat/Kansas City Mavericks
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
ECHL Current | 22 | 1213 | 0.908 | 655 |
Change from last week | 1 | 60 | 0.002 | 24 |
AHL Current | 4 | 176.5 | 0.898 | 88 |
Change from last week | 2 | 98.82 | 0.054 | 43 |
Parsons, after stopping 23 of 24 (0.958) in the ECHL, started his second AHL game and had a great run of it. He was lit up in his first AHL game, but stopped 32 of 34 (0.941) this time around, after stopping nine shots in relieving Gillies the game prior.
Nick Schneider – G, Calgary Hitmen, WHL
GP | TOI | SV% | SA | |
Current | 46 | 2584 | 0.883 | 1381 |
Change from last week | 2 | 117 | 0.001 | 73 |
A pretty good week for Schneider, who stopped 30 of 33 (0.909) and 36 of 40 (0.900) in a weekend series against Vancouver.
